Cleaning/Preparation
Refrigerator/Freezer
We recommend vinegar and baking soda dissolved in warm water.
It is a good idea to leave doors open for 24 hours prior to loading.
Glass shelves should be removed and packed.
Water line for icemaker must be disconnected. (This will be your responsibility to disconnect).
Clean all compartments.
Washer
Turn off and drain water from motor and hoses; this will be your responsibility to disconnect from your home and to reconnect at your new home.
If it is a top load washer the driver will place a washer pack inside the tumbler to secure it.
If it is a Front Load washer, please inform your Planes Relocation Counselor if you have the washing kit from the manufacturer, this is used to secure the tumbler. The servicing of this kit is technically your responsibility since the military doesn’t authorize this, but let your Planes Relocation Counselor know if you need assistance.
o At destination, you are responsible to remove the kit. Make sure you keep the kit for your next relocation.
Dryer
An electric dryer may not need servicing, but if the appliance is gas, service will be required. Disconnecting the gas line is your responsibility.
